SENIOR iOS ENGINEER
Opening for a Senior iOS Engineer to help architect, develop, and test future iterations of the PlaneEnglish digital training products. We’re looking for someone who has the technical expertise to find and implement new ways to perfect, improve, and contribute to the further development and expansion of our existing applications, ARSim, ATSim, and ProSim.
PlaneEnglish is a fast growing startup offering digital aviation training products. We are disrupting the aviation communication training space with our Aviation Radio Simulator, ARSim, currently on Android and iOS. ARSim is a training tool that enables pilots to learn, practice, and gain the critical aviation skill of radio communications on their own terms and outside of the cockpit.
This role is a direct, full-time hire with PlaneEnglish, 100% remote-work, competitive pay.
What we’re working on:
As a member of the PlaneEnglish team you will be collaborating in the continued design and refinement of our main product, ARSim Aviation Radio Simulator mobile application. You can expect to contribute to the growth of the product and the company through the development of new features, new capabilities, and new training methods that improve the experience of aspiring and professional pilots looking to improve and refine their aviation radio communication skills.
What we can expect from you:
- 4+ years mobile software development experience in iOS
- Software development experience in Swift
- Experience in API design and client architecture
- Experience using Firebase
- Experience with speech analysis and processing (TTS, STT)
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages such as Java, Python, and JavaScript
- Understanding of mobile-specific constraints that can impact user experience
- Identify application bottlenecks and opportunities to optimize performance
- Participate in code reviews and take an active role in developing best practices within the team
- Experience using GitHub/TFS for task tracking and source control
- Experience with Core Graphics
- Experience working with GIS mapping software and open street maps is a plus
- Experience in Java is a plus
- Driven to learn the latest programming technologies
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn
- Analytical thinker focused on producing quality work
- Ability to meet timelines
